How to use

  1. Pick one of the eight save the date templates: sage greenery, dusty blue florals, boho terracotta, black-and-white minimal, blush and gold, eucalyptus, burgundy and navy, or champagne and gold. You can also upload your engagement photo as the background.
  2. Type "Save the Date" (or your own heading), your names, then the date and city in the Message line, for example "June 12, 2027 · Austin, Texas".
  3. Choose a script Font for your names and one of 16 Text colors, or any color with the custom color button.
  4. Click Download PNG to save it, or Share on a phone to send it to family and friends right away. Print 4×6 sends it straight to your printer at photo size.

A free save the date template you can edit in a minute

A save the date tells guests to keep the day free before the formal invitation arrives. Here you fill in a ready-made template instead of designing one: add your names, the date and the city, pick a color scheme that matches your wedding, and download the card. There is no account, no watermark and nothing to install, and your photos are never uploaded because the card is made in your browser.

The card is a 1024 × 1536 pixel PNG in a 2:3 portrait shape, the size of a 4 × 6 inch print. Text it or email it as a digital save the date, post it on your wedding website or social media, or print it as a printable save the date at home or at a print shop.

When to send save the dates and what to include

A common guideline is to send save the dates about six to eight months before a local wedding and nine to twelve months before a destination wedding, so guests can book travel. If the wedding is less than about four months away, many couples skip the save the date and send the invitation right away.

Choosing a color scheme

Match the card to your wedding colors so the save the date and the invitation feel like a set. Sage green and eucalyptus suit garden and spring weddings, dusty blue and champagne gold suit classic formal weddings, terracotta and pampas suit boho and desert weddings, and burgundy with navy suits fall and winter. The minimal black-and-white template works with any palette and prints well on plain paper.

Each template starts with a text color chosen to be readable on it. If you use your own engagement photo, try white or cream text first: light text gets a soft shadow that keeps it readable on a busy picture.
