A Thanksgiving card with their name on it
A short note of thanks with someone's name on it is one of the nicest things to give at Thanksgiving: to the host who cooks the turkey, to grandparents you can't visit this year, or to a teacher, neighbor or coworker. Pick a fall design, type the name and your message, and download the card. There is no sign-up, no watermark and nothing is uploaded: the card is drawn in your browser.
The card is a 1024 × 1536 pixel PNG in a 2:3 portrait shape, the size of a 4 × 6 inch photo print. Text it, email it, post it, or print it and set one at each place on the Thanksgiving table.
What to write in a Thanksgiving card
Say what you are thankful for, as specifically as you can. Some ideas to adapt:
| For | Message idea |
|---|---|
| Family | So thankful for you and for every meal we share around the table. Happy Thanksgiving! |
| The host | Thank you for opening your home and cooking such a wonderful feast. We are so grateful. |
| Grandparents far away | We miss you at the table this year and we are thankful for you every day. |
| Friends or Friendsgiving | Grateful for friends who feel like family. Happy Thanksgiving! |
| Teacher, coworker or client | Thank you for your help and kindness this year. Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving. |
| From the kids | Thank you for the pie, the hugs and the stories. Gobble gobble! |
When to send Thanksgiving cards
In the US, Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November: Thursday, November 26, 2026. Mail printed cards about a week before so they arrive in time, and send a digital card any time up to the day itself, or the day after as a thank-you to the host. Canadian Thanksgiving is the second Monday of October, which was October 12 in 2026.
Many families also use the card as a place card or a gratitude card: print one per guest, write each person's name on it, and ask everyone to read one thing they are thankful for before dinner.
Tips for a great Thanksgiving card
Keep the Greeting short, like "Happy Thanksgiving!" or "Give Thanks", so it stays large; longer text is shrunk to fit. Put the person's name on its own line and keep the message to one or two warm sentences.
Light designs start with terracotta or burgundy text and the navy design with gold, so the words stay readable. With your own photo, try white text first: light text gets a soft shadow that keeps it readable on a busy picture.
